Rock Solid Youth Project- North Baddesley
What we do
Rock Solid is a mobile resource which offers a range of activities, resources and help to the young people of North Baddesley.
Our aim is not to entertain but to act as a resource, offer advice, help those attending to develop stronger relationships with their families, peers and community, support learning and schooling, promote safe attitudes towards alcohol, drugs and relationships.
It is fully open access and all ages are welcomed. We find that most young people attending are between the ages of 7 and 16 years. Each evening there are planned activities, tailored on the spot to the needs and age of those attending. Advice is available and offered on a wide range of issues relevant to children and young people.
- tuck shop
- Consult the children and young people regularly
- Plan activities around the needs wishes of young people
- Consult and meet with local residents
- Liaise with local police, wardens, council, schools, etc
Where to find us...
Two evenings each week the Rock Solid bus can be found in Lavington Gardens (Monday evenings) and Botley Road, adjacent to Emer Close (Thursday evenings).
ROCK SOLID is a project of an established North Baddesley church, True Life Church who are committed to serving God in the local community. We believe that church is about people and that whenever possible, we should follow the example of Jesus by caring for those in our neighbourhood. ROCK SOLID is managed by True Life church and supported by it’s policies, financially and prayerfully.

The Roots of Rock Solid
ROCK SOLID started in 1995, as a week long summer activity event.
After several years, the project developed into a weekly ‘drop in’ using borrowed vehicles.
In 2003 the project received generous support from The Children’s Fund, enabling purchase and
tailor made conversion of a modern vehicle with flexible seating which enables users to sit
in groups or use as a standard minibus.
The vehicle is also used by other local groups working
with children and young people.
It is equipped with TV monitor, DVD player, hi-fi and generator.
Recently...
We spent some time consulting with local residents, young people, local statutory agencies and others in the community about how the project might be developed to better support the needs of local children, young people and families. We have now expanded by employing a youth and community co-ordinator (Erika). This is a permanent but developmental role, responding to the needs of local people rather than having a ‘set agenda’. We anticipate this moving further forward in coming months and years. We do have a current need for additional volunteers from local churches—either Monday or Thursday evening
